Marine Haroyan: Restoration of museum exhibits is serious challenge for Armenia

To her, National Gallery, the Museum of Armenian History need laboratories with new equipment.
“This appears to be a serious challenge for us. The Ministry of Culture has circulated the idea of establishing a central laboratory,” Mrs. Saroyan noted.
Chief Specialist of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Folk Art at the RA Ministry of Culture Gohar Saiyan told Panorama.am means from state budget to the renovation works of museum exhibits are allocated annually.
“Those funds are certainly not sufficient, yet we try to do restoration within budget allocations in order to ensure the restoration of the most affected exhibits,” She said.
To remind, according to the National Statistical Service of Armenia 2 935 697 exhibits are registered in the 106 museums of the territory of the Republic of Armenia in 2015, including 1 584 424 documents, 492 184 photos, 290 517- archeological finds, etc.
According to the source, 67 516 exhibits are subject to restoration; 3894 exhibits were renovated in 2015.
