Applications for ‘Open Game’ contest accepted
First round of the annual ‘Open Game’ Armenian Open Championship of Developers of Computer and Mobile Games has kicked off.
The participants presented their projects to the Jury, informs the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE). This year, the Jury comprises of professionals from Frismos, Plexonic, Triada, ViViFi, Underwater Apps, X-Tech, UITE, PicsArt, Ucom companies.
‘Open Game’ Championship of Developers of Computer and Mobile Games is held in 3 stages among groups of under 18 and 18+, who compete in separate categories. All those young people interested in production of computer and mobile games can apply until the start of the second round, in July.
Besides all other programming languages, the participants were given the chance to use Scratch this year. More than 2000 schoolchildren in Armenia master Scratch, which they successfully use in programming robots.
UITE notes that the prize fund amounts to 2 million AMD. There will also be other prizes, including appliances. ‘Open Game’ Contest conditions are presented in the official website, www.opengame.am.
‘Open Game’ is a development project aimed at game development in Armenia. The project has 6 years of history, and since that period has created a large community; schoolchildren, students, start-ups, game companies. In the frames of the project are organized several events like: contests, hackathons, trainings, meetings and discussions, lectures, as well the participants of the project are involved in local and international events.
‘Open Game’ Armenian Open Championship of Developers of Computer and Mobile Games, is organized by the UITE and ‘Ucom’. The objective of this championship is to develop the market of computer and mobile games in Armenia. It will help to reveal and motivate young talents to build their future by developing computer/mobile games. In 2015 and 2016, the partner of the contest is Huawei.
