Armenian cheese export to Russia doubles
For the first time, after the use of food embargo, an increase has been recorded in the foreign cheese share in Russian consumer market. Moreover, a relative large growth was recorded in the volumes of Armenian cheese export to Russia. In the first quarter of 2016, the volumes doubled amounting to 1200 tons.
According to Kommersant newspaper, the volumes of cheese imported in Russia during the first quarter of 2016 amounted to 49.3 thousand tons. Compared with the last year the number increased by 31%. Import from Belarus and Serbia increased by 41% and 87% respectively. While imports from Armenia doubled.
Mainly average-priced cheese is imported in Russia from the mentioned countries.
