OSCE PA special representative to prepare reports on his visits to Armenia and Azerbaijan
Vice President of the National Assembly, Eduard Sharmazanov presented OSCE PA Special Representative on South Caucasus, Kristian Vigenin evidence on Azerbaijani atrocities in Artsakh, a number of which appeared on the official website of Baku State University.
“The ‘Islamic State’ style can be observed in manifestations of Azerbaijani aggression,” Sharmazanov said.
According to public relations department of the NA, Eduard Sharmazanov noted that Turkey, which has been blockading Armenia for 23 years, has openly supported Azerbaijan.
In the context of NKR conflict settlement, Sharmazanov expressed his concerns about the non-targeted calls of the international community. He emphasized the OSCE role in targeted assessments on these events.
“Nagorno Karabakh has never been a part of Azerbaijan. It left the USSR and Karabakh people have just realized their right to self-determination, as many other nations do,” Sharmazanov said, adding that without the participation of Nagorno Karabakh it’s impossible to settle the conflict.
Kristian Vigenin stressed the importance of exerting more efforts to maintain peace in the region, without challenging the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The Special Representative informed about preparing reports on his visits to Armenia and Azerbaijan, which he will present during the annual session of the OSCE PA in Tbilisi.
