“Kind, honest and willing to help. His soul is just like his paintings bright, rich and colourful. Looking at his paintings, one fills with kindness and optimism. This is very important for painting. Such an artist should be highly appreciated. He’s worthy to be mentioned next to the greats,” said Yerevan Academy of Fine Arts Professor, Jora Hayrapetyan describing painter Anatoli Grigoryan.

The Professor has known Grigoryan for a long time, when he was the Chair of Young Painters section of the Armenian Artists Union.

“When looking at paintings he instantly knew that the painter should be encouraged, assisted not to fade away, rather to grow and develop,” he said.

It should be noted that Anatoli Grigoryan’s exhibition opened at Albert & Tove Boiajian Gallery of Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibition features 30 paintings mainly from 2015. Compositions, landscapes, portraits, still lives, symbolic images transport the viewers to a completely different world.

Art critic, professor, painter Vigen Ghazaryan said that Anatoli Grigoryan has a bright imagination which helps him create his own world.

“In Armenia there is no such painter. His paintings inspire vial energy,” the art critic said.

According to him, the artist’s paintings show a world, which once existed but is lost now. “In Tolik’s [Anatoli] paintings it [that world] returns”.

Painter Anatoli Grigoryan noted that like all other artists he also felt the urge to present his works to his colleagues and the public.

He said that he doesn’t choose special themes. They rather visit him while working. At this point he paints whatever he feels. “The Muse arrives while working, and when you have a bit of imagination, then you’re on the right track”.

“These are the types of works which make people think,” he said.
