Artsakh Foreign Ministry: NKR ready to host special monitoring mission
“For its part, the NKR is ready to host a special monitoring mission for an on-site study of all the facts and investigation of the circumstances of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on April 2-5, 2016, as well as the violations of the norms of international humanitarian law committed during that period,” reads the statement of NKR Foreign Ministry to the UN.
In the statement, NKR Foreign Ministry draws the attention of UN member states to the fact that Azerbaijan continues its usual campaign of disinformation of the international community. “Back in 1992, the Azerbaijani side made similar accusations of the alleged use of chemical weapons, which were then denied by the UN special fact-finding mission. Based on the findings and conclusions of the UN experts set forth in the UN Security Council document S/24344 dated July 24, 1992, the UN Secretary-General noted that ‘no evidence of the use of chemical weapons had been presented to the team’,” they mention in the statement.
Earlier, during the meeting with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Herbert Salber on May 10, Foreign Minister of Nagorno Karabakh, Karen Mirzoyan, presented the situation during and after the Four Day War in April.
The Azerbaijani unprecedented military aggression unleashed on the Nagorno Karabakh Republic on April 2, ended on April 5 with the verbal agreement reached between Chiefs of General Staffs of Armenia and Azerbaijan during their Moscow meeting.
Even though all the military operations were supposed to be ceased in Nagorno Karabakh on April 5, 12:00pm, NKR Defense Army kept reporting about Azerbaijani violations.
During the past few years, Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh, Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, as well as more than 80 USA congressmen have been proposing to take concrete measures to calm the tension on the Line of Contact by installing equipment recording the violations of the ceasefire.
Unlike Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, Azerbaijan has reportedly rejected this proposal.
