Residents returning to Mataghis
Irina Vanyan, NKR Mataghis resident returned to the village immediately after the verbal agreement on ceasefire. She recalls leaving her home at 12:30pm on April 2 with the assistant of Artsakh Prime Minister reaching Martakert, then Stepanakert.
“I’ve returned on April 5. We’re living again. I think we’ll always stay here. We don’t have anywhere else to go. Everyone’s returning, the head of the village is here, my neighbour is here. We’re taking the risk of staying. The head of our village is here. He was wounded on April 2. If not for that wound he would have evacuated us all,” Irina Vanyan told Panorama.am.
She’s sure that all other residents of the village will soon return.
Another resident of Mataghis, Ashot Hayiryan is also in the village. His family hasn’t returned from Stepanakert yet. The children go to school there.
“We’re waiting for the holidays. They’ll probably return. We’ll see how it goes,” he said.
