Mad Poghos at Hakob Paronyan Musical Comedy Theater
Playwright Ararat Barseghyan’s “Artsakh, My Love” or “Mad Poghos” musical comedy will premiere today at Hakob Paronyan Musical Comedy Theatre, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenian independence. The performance is directed by Gayane Barseghyan from the USA.
The artistic director of the theatre, RA People’s Artist, Yervand Ghazanchyan told Panorama.am that they’ve been planning the performance for a while.
“It’s a very interesting play. It has been performed well in our theatres,” he stated adding that the director has done a wonderful job.
Actors, Avo Khalatyan, Boris Pepanyan, Satik Hakhnazaryan, Mariam Grigoryan, Ashot Hakobyan, Artur Karapetyan, Varuzhan Manukyan, Artur Geghamyan, Armen Gasparyan an others are casted. The play has been staged with the efforts of stage director Tatev Hovhannisyan and choreographer Gagik Karapetyan.
“Mad Poghos” appeared on the stage of Hakob Paronyan Musical Comedy Theatre twice. Playwright, theatre critic, actor, Ararat Barseghyan wrote the play in 1962.
The performance is staged again with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia.
The heroic comedy will once again remind the public about the history of Artsakh, its daily life, music and dances, about Mazra and Shushi and the struggle against foreign invaders. The playwright presents the sweet language of Karabakh, Armenian meliks (historical figures) through comedian Mad Poghos.
