UNICEFF: Child protection strategy to be developed in Armenia
United Nations Children's Fund ( UNICEFF) and the Staff of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia will exert joint efforts three years toward improving child protection system in Armenia over the course of the coming three years.
As UNICEFF Armenia reports, the partners will take up joint steps toward enhancing the capabilities of the specialized division on child protection to be established within the Staff of the RA Human Rights Defender as well as study the mechanism of complaints and proposals on behalf of children. Furthermore, general strategy and priorities of child protection system in Armenia will be developed for 2016-2018.
“Reliable protection of children’s rights is the most important strategic direction for the development of our state. Bearing this in mind, specialized division on child protection will be established in the Staff of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia. We are ready to lead the work in this direction, raise the existing problems and contribute to their solutions. Furthermore, we plan to actively cooperate with all interested stakeholders over the course considering that to be an important factor for registering meaningful results,” RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan stated at a special event.
“United Nations Children's Fund welcomes the initiative of establishing specialized division on child protection in the Staff of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia. It may play a viable role toward the development of the child protection system in Armenia, through connecting the relevant stakeholders and raising the issues of the most vulnerable children.” Tanja Radocaj, UNICEFF Representative to Armenia, stated.
