Dmitri Abdashyan: Our legislation holds no one responsible for development of aviation
Having a national air carrier requires first of all a state approach, state patronage, which was not the case with Air Armenia, head of the sub-commission on air transport of Armenia’s Public Council, Dmitri Abdashyan, told reporters today at a press conference held at Media Center.
According to him, the true aviation was destroyed in 2003-2013 - right after the Armavia case.
“After that several air carriers tried to work in our market but ultimately failed. The main reason is that Armenia lacks working legal regulations for the aviation. Though the law on aviation was supplemented on several occasions, one would fail to find a relative body responsible for the sphere there.
Hakob Chagharyan, member of the sub-commission and former pilot stressed on his part that Armenia has no way but to have an air carrier due to its restricted transport links with the world.
“National air carrier requires first of all a state approach, state patronage which was not the case with Air Armenia,” he noted.
