20 die in thunderstorm in Pakistan
Heavy rainfall and deadly thunderstorm which struck upper parts of Islamabad and central Punjab, including Lahore and Azad Kashmir on Wednesday claimed 20 lives injuring scores of people, Pakistan Observer reports.
According to the source, winds blowing at 148 kph badly affected the electricity supply to various cities. Major parts of Rawalpindi city went into darkness including Westridge, Saddar, City, Murree Road and areas around Airport.
According to reports, heavy downpour also slammed Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing widespread devastation.
In twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad nine people died and 102 were injured.
