RA State Committee of Science chairman on why Armenian economy went to EEU and science to EU
During the past six or seven years, Armenia has carried out more joint projects within the science sphere with the EU, than with Russia, said chairman of the RA State Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science, Samvel Harutyunyan during the international conference ‘Horizon 2020’ on Armenian associate membership, answering the question on why Armenian economy went to EEU, and the science to EU.
“Science has no boundaries. Armenia is an independent country and can move freely. We work with those we find suitable,” he noted.
As far as it concerns scientific priorities, he noted that those are determined by the economic and defense issues. “They have already been determined for the years 2015-2019, a huge part of which are technological developments of various spheres and defense issues”.
However, according to Samvel Harutyunyan, our country doesn’t have the financial and economic opportunities to be able to fully use its scientific potential yet.
