First Armenian smartphone goes on sale
ArmPhone, the first Armenian smartphone went on sale with the campaign ‘It’s time for Armenian [products]’. The armphones 0502, 0505, 0508, 0509 and 0520 were unveiled in Yerevan on June 6.
Founder of ‘Technology and Science Dynamics Inc./Armtab Technologies’ company, Vahan Shakaryan told the journalists that the Armenian smartphones are as good as other smartphones produced in the world.
According to him, any product has its consumer and it’s useless to compete with any manufacturers. “The important thing is that our product is of high quality and we are responsible for it”.
Vahan Shakaryan noted said that the production of smartphones is another step to encourage economic development in Armenia.
Concerning the prices, TSD founder said that the smartphones cost less than the international famous brands, yet they are more expensive than those of unknown Chinese origin.
The prices for ArmPhone range between AMD 50.000 and AMD 150.000 (approximately $105 and $315). Each of the options provides features, including up to 32GB of internal storage, Android 6.0 or Android 5.1 OS, fingerprint sensors and 4G connectivity.
The company plans to export the ArmPhone first to Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, then they’ll expand the geography.
President of Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, Arsen Ghazaryan said that this is a unique initiative.
“I’m glad that this scientific working group established by Vahan Shakaryan in a free economic zone will provide the technical basis of our military industry. I believe in this group’s success,” he said.
