Opposition MP: “Tomato economy” established in Armenia
The 2015 budget implementation is a “sorrowful document” like the one discussed in the previous year, oppositional MP Nikol Pashinyan stated at the budget implementation debates held in National Assembly on June 9.
Pashinyan named the three percent economy growth as a “miserable” fact pointing out to the fact that 70 percent of the growth was ensured by the agricultural sector.
“As confessed by the government, the agricultural growth has been mostly ensured by environmental and climatic conditions. That is to say if we had two hailstorms more or two rainfalls less in 2015, the economic growth of the three percent of our state would have been decreased by 50 percent,” the parliamentarian stressed adding instead of the promised knowledge based economy the ruling party has established a “tomato economy”.
