Composer impressed with interpretations of his work during Aram Khachaturian International Competition
First round of 12th Aram Khachaturian International Competition draws to close. Members of the Jury, Yuri Davtyan (RA National Artist), Mark Hildrew (Great Britain), David Whelton (Great Britain), Michalis Economou (Greece), Thomas Yaksic (Brazil/Chile), Constantine Orbelian (USA) and Vag Papian (Israel/Armenia) will deliver their speeches today, June 9.
According to “Arman Khachaturian Competition” cultural foundation, all 12 conductors preformed the works of Haydn, Khachaturian, as well as Eduard Hayrapetyan, who has composed the piece for the competition.
Eduard Hayrapetyan noted that he had already listened to different interpretations of his piece by 8 conductors. He said that conductors from different countries add to his piece something unique, their character and ideas.
“It’s a very interesting process for me. They enrich the piece with their performance,” Eduard Hayrapetyan says adding that he is impressed with the interpretations of his work by talented conductors.
The second round will start on June 11. The project is being implemented thanks to joint efforts of RA Ministry of Culture, “Aram Khachaturian-competition” Cultural Foundation and Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. It is held under the high patronage of First Lady Mrs. Rita Sargsyan, who is honorary president of the Board of Trustees of the competition.
The main partner of the competition is the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation (IFESCCO).
