Deputy Foreign Minister: Our ultimate goal to see Turkey recognizing the Armenian Genocide
At this stage we want to have the international recognition process of the Armenian Genocide underway, Shavarsh Kocharyan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenian told reporters after the Cabinet session on June 9.
Asked what implications German Bundestag recognition of the Armenian Genocide may have, Kocharyan said: “We have an ultimate goal to see Turkey recognizing the Armenian Genocide”.
Kocharyan next highlighted the fact that the Bundestag recognition acknowledged Germany’s complicity in the crime of the Armenian Genocide.
“It looks quite strange when Germany accepts it bears some guilt for its inaction at the time of Genocide, while the perpetrator itself [Turkey] keeps on denying,” stressed the deputy minister.
