“The ceasefire isn’t maintained mainly in the northern parts of Syria, especially in Aleppo, partially in Latakia,” expert on Arabic studies, Armen Petrosyan said during a press conference.

According to him, Turkey has been supporting ‘Jabhat al-Nusra’, also several anti-governmental groups.
“It is in this very context that the military operations have been activated in Aleppo. Particularly, during the past 10-15 days active military operations are underway in Kurdish districts of Aleppo. Several Armenian districts are also being shelled. It’s clearly Turkish style. The groups are instructed by Turkey. Why would ‘Jabhat al-Nusra’, the rival of ‘Islamic State’ attack Kurdish institutions or Syrian army fighting against the IS? The problem is these extremists groups all want the IS to keep its positions. IS is in the centre of attention. Taking advantage of this situation, these groups pursue their own interests,” the expert noted.

According to him, in the context of these serious processes in the north of Syria, a trilateral meeting of Defense Ministers of Iran, Syria and Russia was held to discuss further plans concerning Aleppo. “It’s obvious that this is a key region for the administration and its allies. The main developments will be focused on this very region”.

He also noted that Russia and Iran will once again be active, and Turkey realizes it. According to Petrosyan, this is the reason why Turkey want’s to solve several problems connected with the Kurdish factor and weakening the positions of the Armenian community in this short period of time.
