Syria enters next phase of military operations, expert says
Syria has entered the next phase of active and effective military operations against the ‘Islamic State’ terrorist group, liberating territories under their control, expert on Arabic studies, Sargis Grigoryan said during a press conference.
According to him, the active involvement of Kurdish groups are noticed recently in the fight against the IS.
Grigoryan noted that military operations should be organized in the northern parts of Syria to inflict efficient strikes on the IS.
“First of all, it’s important to carry out military operations against the terrorist group in the northern part for the IS to lose contact with the Turkish border. It’s no secret that the IS receives support from there. Cutting that tie, the IS will lose the support,” the expert noted.
According to Grigoryan, the residential areas which are under the IS control are mainly concentrated in the north. “Losing those areas, the IS will suffer losing the support of the residents. They will have to move to the desert, where it will be a lot easier to carry out military operations against the terrorists.”
According to Grigoryan, considering the developments in the north, the IS will lose more territory.
