Iran to sue US for asset seizure through Hague Court
Iran will file a complaint with the Hague court after the US top court ruled to hand over billions worth of its funds to families of the 1983 Beirut blast victims, Foreign Minister Mohammad Zarif said on June 12, Sputnik agency reports.
The source reminds that the US Supreme Court decided in April that $2 billion in Iranian central bank’s US-held frozen assets ought to be turned over to relatives of US Marines whose barracks in Beirut were bombed by alleged Iranian radicals, as well as to victims of other crimes purportedly linked to Tehran.
The Iranian foreign minister slammed the United States for what he said were repeated violations of international laws over the past years and warned that Tehran would not recognize US court decisions.
