Armenian Athletics Team places 7th at 2016 Championships for the Small States of Europe
The Armenian Athletics Team has placed 7th at the 2016 Championships for the Small States of Europe held in Malta, Armenian National Olympic Committee (ANOC) reports.
According to the source, competing only in the long jump and running competitions the team placed 7th with 42 points. Armenia was represented by 13 athletes – six boys and seven girls.
In the men's 3000m running Yervand Mkrtchyan grabbed a silver medal and Amalya Sharoyan won a bronze medal in the women's long jump scoring 5, 84m. 15-year-old Gayane Chiloyan finished 4th in the 200m race and - 5th in the 100m running.
Overall 18 countries took part in the championships – Andorra, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia, Cyprus, Macedonia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Gibraltar, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, San Marino and Monaco, ANOC reports.
