Sayat Nova Festival organized in Yerevan
For the first time in Yerevan Sayat Nova Festival will be held on June 18-24. Music of Armenia, the organizer company told Panorama.am that Sayat Nova Festival aims to preserve and promote the legacy of Sayat Nova and ashough culture in general. For several days, Sayat Nova Festival brings together musicians of all backgrounds and levels of experience in an event solely dedicated to this utmost treasured artform.
The first concert will be held on June 18 at Cafesjian Center for the Arts. One of Armenia’s finest kamancha players, Hakob Khalatyan will be joined by a number of established and young Armenian musicians in the opening concert of the Sayat Nova Festival. During the concert, the audience will enjoy music by the great poet and musician Sayat Nova and other Armenian ashoughs, as well as a dance piece, and a premiere of “Shkhali”, a recently dicoverd song by Ashough Jivani.
On June 22, the second concert will feature Havasi Ensemble, Tagharan Ensemble,
Miq’s Art Folk Quartet, Araqsya Amirkhanyan and Tonica Trio. The concert will be held at Megerian Carpet.
On June 24, screening of ‘The Color of Pomegranates’ is planned at The LOFT. Guest speakers include composer Tigran Mansurian, singer-songwriter Lilit Pipoyan and film critic Raffi Movsisyan.
