Greek Ambassador expresses confidence Armenia to become a tourist destination
The cooperation in tourism sphere between Armenia and Greece is of high importance, and all the prerequisites exist for that, Mekhak Apresyan, Head of Tourism Department at Armenia’s Ministry of Economy told reporters on June 15 at an event entitled “Window to Greece”.
According to him, deepening and developing ties in the sphere between Armenia, Georgia produce not only economic benefits.
“Those ties are to consolidate the friendship between the two peoples as well as encourage intercultural dialogue. In this context, this event is very important,” Apresyan noted.
Greek Ambassador to Armenia, Ioannis Taghis, on his part told reporters that many Armenians tend to visit Greece.
“Armenia and Greece are beautiful countries. I am confident Armenia will become a tourist destination soon. Since our people share the same religion, Greeks will be particularly interested in Armenian churches,” the Ambassador said.
Mkhitar Meliq-Shahnazaryan, Director at Hot Tours, also present at the event, mentioned that the event was organized at the initiative of the Embassy of Greece in Yerevan in partnership with number of companies and organizations.
The event aimed at increasing the visibility and knowledge of the Greek culture and history among the Armenians.
