Armenians are known for their talent, Didier Schnorhk says
The 60th General Assembly of the World Federation of International Music Competitions kicked off today in Yerevan.
Over 60 international delegates have gathered at Matenadaran for four comprehensive days of keynote addresses, plenary sessions, network events, and a gala concert featuring WFIMC competition laureates.
Artistic directors and Presidents from 35 premier global music competitions are due to share the accomplishments and challenges experienced by music competitions today.
Mr. Didier Schnorhk, President of the World Federation of International Music Competitions shared his impression of the visit and the activities of the Federation.
“Armenians participate in international competitions regularly and have a good record of achievements. It is well known that Armenians are very talented,” Mr. Schnorhk said.
RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan on her part highlighted the fact that the 60th General Assembly is conducted in Armenia, emphasizing the country joined the musical family, which ensures international serious processes.
“Being the only country of the region, joined the World Federation of International Music Competitions through its Aram Khachatourian competition, Armenia reasserted its performing excellence. Certain criteria were to be met for joining the Federation, and we are particularly proud for having been able to overcome that challenge,” Minister Poghosyan noted.
To remind, within the scope of the event a gala-concert dedicated to the 60th General Assembly of the World Federation of International Music Competitions will be held in Aram Khachaturian concert hall today at 19:00. The State Youth Orchestra of Armenia will present a saturated concert program together with competition awardees Georgy Chaidze (piano), Barnabás Kelemen (violin), Katalin Kokas (Viola). Sergey Smbatyan is due to conduct the concert.
