Edward Nalbandian deems trilateral meeting on Karabakh as constructive
‘The meeting held today was quite useful and I can state with certain caution it passed in constructive atmosphere. The presidents came to understanding over some issues, which means that if an arrangement is reached over those issues, the negotiation process will move forward for the settlement of the conflict. This is reflected in the statement adopted by the presidents,” Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian told reporters in Saint Petersburg summing up the results of the trilateral meeting between Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani presidents.
Nalbandian then informed that an agreement was reached to continue the meetings between the two states both the presidential and ministerial level.
“The whole process will move on within the OSCE Minsk Group format,” Nalbandian added.
To remind, earlier Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan participated at the trilateral summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Following the consultations, the presidents adopted a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to normalizing the situation on the line of contact and giving their approval to an increase in the number of OSCE observers working in the conflict zone. The joint statement also expresses the parties’ commitment to putting in place the conditions required for steady progress in negotiations on a political settlement to the conflict, Kremlin reported.
