EU to extend Russia sanctions until January 2017
The EU Permanent Representatives Committee (COREPER) “agreed extension of economic sanctions against Russia for six months,” a European diplomatic source said on Tuesday, June 21, TASS .
The decision was made unanimously. Still the decision needs to be approved.
The UK representative spoke for maintaining the strict position towards Russia and extending the sanctions. The representative of France also called upon retaining restrictions on Russia’s defense, energy and financial sectors until Russia stops supporting separatists in Ukraine.
