Apricot purveyance begins in Armenia
Processing companies began apricot purveyance on June 22, public relations department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia informs.
According to the source, by June 22, 5675 tons of apricot have been exported this year, which is more compared with last year’s 2710 tons. Minister of Agriculture, Sergo Karpetyan noted that, the fruit has ripened rather early this year, so the export activities started earlier.
“Regardless of the unfavourable weather, this year we’ll have more than 60 thousand tons of apricot,” the Minister said.
According to him, this year Armenia is expected to have large harvest. More than 80-100 tons of cherry and 600-800 tons of apricot are exported on daily bases.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, more than 63700 tons of vegetables and fruits have been exported from Armenia by June 22. The export level for the whole last year was 76700 tons.
Mr. Karapetyan also said that it is planned to double export levels of apricot reaching 5000 tons.
