Armenia ahead of regional states in startups
I like the approaches of Armenian startups, which face existing problems through global perspectives. Startups are evolving and the level is higher than average, Igor Ovcharenko, Regional Director of Seedstars World startup competition told reporters during the press conference.
To remind, on June 25 Seedstars Yerevan 2016 startup competition will take place at American University of Armenia, during which 12 best-selected startups will pitch.
The winning startup will join the global Seedstars Family and take part in the regional and global Seedstars Summits.
In addition to seeing the top startups pitch, winners can participate in inspirational discussions, networking sessions and one flight ticket for the winner to come to Switzerland to compete for over $1mn in investment.
Ovcharenko informed he had visited Azerbaijan and Georgia where Seedstars competition had been held for the first time.
“Startups are in their early development stage. We passed special trainings to prepare them to correspond to our criteria. I am satisfied with the results. There is potential in Georgia. Our primary message to them was to take actions, look into examples in other states, do not expect any assistance from the state and other donor agencies,” Ovcharenko stressed.
Ovcharenko informed four Seedstars competitions have been held in Azerbaijan so far and the level of startups there remained the same. “I think we had more success last year as compared to the results of this year,” noted the speaker.
Ovcharenko stressed Armenia is ahead of the regional states with its startups.
