Iranian media covering Pope visit to Armenia
Iranian news agencies IRIB, ISNA, Fars, and Mehr agencies are closely following Pope Francis visit to Armenia.
Main focus of the reports by Iranian media outlets is the Pope reference to the Armenian Genocide during the speech delivered on June 24 at the Presidential Palace.
To remind, Pope went off the prepared text and called the Armenian massacres under the Ottoman rule in the beginning of the 20th century as Genocide, a description that infuriated Turkey when he said it a year ago.
Iranian media outlets highlight that Pope Francis condemned the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire.
