Iranians applied to UN against Turkey’s water policy
Iranian Mehr news agency reports that Iranians have applied to the UN against Turkish water policy.
According to the source, about 2000 Iranians applied to the UN and UNESCO complaining about Turkey’s water policy, which threatens the ecosystem of the region and results in crisis.
Particularly, it is noted that Turkey has caused damage to its neighbouring countries by building dams over river Tigris.
In an interview with Mehr, Iranian expert expressed concerns about Turkey’s water policy, noting that only in the Ataturk dam more water resources have been accumulated than the entire dams of Iran.
Managing director of the National Water and Wastewater Engineering Company of Iran, Hamid Reza Janbaz informed that 35 million people of 80 million population of Iran have serious problems concerning water deficiency.
