Prominent Armenian artist, sculptor Zaven Koshtoyan passed away
Armenian honorary artist, prominent Armenian sculptor Zaven Koshtoyan has died, Levon Barseghyan, Chairman at “Asparez” journalists' club of Gyumri wrote on Facebook.
Zaven Koshtoyan has suffered from decease for the past month, Panorama.am learnt from the Artists’ Union of Armenia.
Sculptor Zaven Koshtoyan was born in 1940 in Leninakan (currently Gyumri). In 1964 Koshtoyan graduated from Terlemezyan Yerevan State College of Fine Arts and Yerevan State Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1969. He used to be the main artist of Shirak Governor’s Office and lectured at the Gyumri Branch of Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts.
Among most famous works of the sculptor are bronze monuments “Aleksandr Pushkin” (1974). “Avetik Isahakyan” (1975), “Aleq Manukyan” (1995), “Khachkar” (1975), etc.
Zaven Koshtoyan received the Honorary Title of People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia in 1992.
