Aram Harutyunyan: Iran interested in water resources of Armenia
“Iran showed interest in water resources of Armenia, they wanted to transfer water from Sevan and other places to Lake Urmia, yet we refused out of political considerations. Iran now has interest in water resources of Armenia as well, though I can not say when it may come into reality,” Aram Harutyunyan, Chairman of Armenia’s State Committee of Water Economy told reporters.
Harutyunyan informed no specific program is under consideration, except the interest displayed on part of the Iranians.
“The issue requires thorough consideration,” Harutyunyan said, when asked about the prospects of any future cooperation.
To remind, the issue of water supply to Iran was actively discussed in 2012.
