Lavrov says CSTO FMs made concrete steps to improve cooperation
Participants in the session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) member countries have made concrete steps to improve coordination in foreign policy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters on Monday, TASS agency reports.
"The session was very productive. Among main results is the approval of the draft Collective Security Strategy until 2025. The document is set for approval by heads of state," Lavrov said. "Moreover, concrete steps were made to improve foreign policy coordination among CSTO member countries," he added, as quoted by the source.
"Documents were adopted, and I will first of all note the new edition of collective guidelines for permanent representative of CSTO member countries at UN and other international organizations. Secondly, (among adopted documents) is the list of topics for joint statements, which we will make at multilateral platforms. Fifteen topics have already been coordinated," Lavrov said.
The foreign minister noted that the plan of consultations between foreign ministries of CSTO member countries was also coordinated.
He added that statements on Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh settlement were also approved at the session. "We think that we have worked very well here, and this was facilitated by a good organization of our session by Armenian chairmanship," Lavrov concluded.
