Foreign missions in Armenia pleased to cooperate with Golden Apricot Festival
Golden Apricot Yerevan 13th International Festival continues cooperation with foreign missions in Armenia, artistic director of Golden Apricot Festival, Susanna Harutyunyan said during a press conference.
She noted that German, French, Russian, Polish films will be featured during the festival. She also informed that “Shakespeare Lives in Film” program will be dedicated to William Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary of death.
In cooperation with German Embassy in Armenia and Goethe Institute organized “German Cinema Day” within the framework of the festival. Best German films will be featured in the program. Anne Zohra Berrached’s “24 Weeks”, as well as several works of Fred Kelemen will be screened.
“This festival is one of major cultural events that increase Armenia’s fame in the world,” Matthias Kiesler, German Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia noted.
“French Film” non-competition program will also be featured within the framework of the festival. Pierre Léon’s “Two Remis, Two”, Fejria Deliba’s “Our Mother” and Jacques Toulemonde’s “Anna” will be screened within the framework of the program.
“It’s a great pleasure to cooperate with Golden Apricot Festival, which brings together film lovers especially in this time of year where the smell of Armenian apricot is in the air,” French chargé d'affaires in Armenia, Nicolas Faye said.
“Promotion of cultural diversity is one of the key principles of our diplomacy. It’s very natural that our embassy has been cooperating with this festival. This year the Armenian-French cooperation once again manifested itself in a rich selection of French program,” he noted.
Seven adaptations of Shakespeare’s works will also be featured within the framework of “Shakespeare Lives in Film” non-competition program, which is organized in cooperation with the British Council in Armenia.
Narek Tovmasyan, a British Council representative, noted that the council has been cooperating with the festival since the day of its creation. “We’ve selected an interesting program featuring the best films, shot based on Shakespeare’s works”.
The Russian Centre for Science and Culture supports screening of Russian films within the framework of the festival.
“We think Golden Apricot is one of the brightest festivals, at least among the CIS countries,” director of the centre, Mark Kalinin said.
Andrzej Zulawski’s “Cosmos” will also be featured within the framework of “Polish Cinema Day” program.
This year, Golden Apricot Yerevan 13th International Festival will be held in July 10-17. The festival is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.
