Israel may recognize the Armenia Genocide if consistent work is done, Tevan Poghosyan says
We should hope that consistent work will result in the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Israel, and the idea of the Holocaust uniqueness will be overcome, MP Tevan Poghosyan told reporters at a briefing.
“We shouldn’t expect the things may change immediately. If we look into the issue from the Israeli perspective, Armenian-Israeli relations have always been conditioned with Turkey’s factor,” noted Poghosyan.
To remind, earlier, Israel's Knesset rejected a motion recognizing the Armenian Genocide to put on vote.
The government representative suggested reviewing the question in the Education Committee,
Tevan Poghosyan recalled that previously one or two people spoke of the Armenian Genocide, while after the Centennial of the Genocide and the Global Forum, the number of Jewish scholars exploring the topic grew, while the Armenian community enhanced its activities.
“We should realize this is a process that requires time, we should keep no working and be initiative,” Poghosyan concluded.
