Adoption of law reducing person’s income is more than absurd, parliamentarian says
“If adopted in this form, the new Tax Code will harm those with average salary,” member of the National Assembly of Armenia, Stepan Margaryan said during a press conference.
“We know that for a salary of up to 120 thousand AMD, the income tax will amount to 23% by the new Tax Code. In case of 120 thousand to 1 million AMD, the tax rises up to 28%. In our country, there’s almost no difference between earning 120 or 150 thousand AMD. It’s not clear why the tax for 120 thousand AMD is less than when you receive a bit more,” the parliamentarian said.
According to him, the adoption of a law reducing the person’s current income is more than absurd.
“There’s no such thing for the laws to affect the current situation. They don’t necessarily aim at making the situation better, but resulting in reduced income is more than absurd. I hope the government will reject this bill. If it doesn’t then the people should decide what to do during the upcoming elections.
