Bilateral treaty on mutual military assistance with NK being discussed, MP says
“According to official information, the bilateral treaty on mutual assistance with Nagorno Karabakh is being discussed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Every time we raise this issue, we’re told that when ready they’ll send it [the document] to the National Assembly,” MP Tevan Pghosyan told during a briefing.
To remind, during the National Security Council’s session held on April 2, President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan said; “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should cooperate with the Foreign Ministry of Nagorno Karabakh aimed at concluding a bilateral treaty on mutual military assistance. We should draft the text of the treaty, hold relevant discussions and send it to the National Assembly”.
According to Tevan Poghosyan, they’re trying to keep that card, considering the negotiation process. “In case of a similar situation to that of April operations, it can be activated. In case of a large-scale war, I guess there will be an immediate recognition”.
Mr. Poghosyan also said that if they announce about signing such a treaty, they must do it.
