Boxer Hovhannes Bachkov gains an Olympic qualification
Armenia’s boxing team member, Hovhannes Bachkov (64kg) has gained advantage over Ukrainian Vladimir Matvichuk (3:0) in the semifinals of the Qualification Tournament for professional boxers and qualified for the finals gaining an Olympic qualification, National Olympic Committee of Armenia (ANOC) reports.
According to the source, in the quarterfinals of the tournament the Armenian boxer defeated Ireland’s Peter Raymond.
Only top three boxers of the tournament ongoing in Venezuela qualify for the Olympics.
For the first time in the history of independent Armenia, our country will be represented by 5 boxers at the Olympics. Now Armenia has 30 Olympic qualifications overall.
The tournament has kicked off on July 3 and will end on July 8.
