The CD comprises piano compositions by Armenian-American Composer, Tatev Amiryan. The concert will also feature works of John Cage, Galina Ulstvolskaya, Dimitris Maronidis Anthony R. Green, Karim Haddad.
In Latin “Ortus” means birth, origin, rising. According to Tatev Amiryan, as this is her first CD, “it signifies a new beginning”.
In the U.S., the CD presentation was held in May 7 at Crowden Music Centre, Berkeley, California. Tatev Amiryan has arrived in Armenia to be present during the piano recital.
“I’m really excited to work with a musician of such an exceptional talent and high professionalism. Hayk Melikyan is one of the few pianists who can skillfully and convincingly present contemporary music and give a new life to the composer’s work by their unique interpretation,” Tatev Amiryan said.
“Regardless of the distance, Hayk Melikyan and Tatev Amiryan have been cooperating for many years. Tatev has written special pieces for Hayk, including “Waiting for the Dawn” which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. It was included in Hayk Melikyan’s CD “Echoes of Altar”. I think these two musicians will continue their fruitful cooperation,” the pianist’s manager, Alexander Hakobyan said.
The admission to the concert is free.
