Mariam Ohanyan’s “The Ancestors’ Dissolving Shadows” movie premiers today in Yerevan
Telling about Armenian famous sculptor Heriknaz Galstyan, Mariam Ohanyan’s “The Ancestors’ Dissolving Shadows” movie will premiere today, July 12 at Henrik Malyan Theatre of Cinema Artists in Yerevan.
“I’d shot this film before the death of Heriknaz Galstyan. We were in Varagavank together. She was working the whole time and I was filming the process. During the movie we witness the creation of “The Ancestors’ Dissolving Shadows”,” Mariam Ohanyan told Panorama.am.
She also noted that in her works Heriknaz Galstyan had always referred to the Armenian history, presenting it in a new light.
The film also participated in “Luchezarnij Angel” IFF in Moscow, Russia and “Senior Women’s Film Festival” in Osaka, Japan.
Heriknaz Galstyan is one of the few female sculptors of Armenia and a graduate of the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts. She had had numerous exhibitions both inside and outside of Armenia.
“Science confirms that the stone and the tree are alive. Everything has their fate and life. Arranging these accordingly helps to convey your message,” sculptor Heriknaz Galstyan once said.
The artist died on January 12, 2015.
