Deputy FM deems negotiations on Armenia-EU new comprehensive agreement as efficient
The Government of Armenia greatly values the involvement of the civil society in the initiatives of different spheres of the EU as well as the reforms implemented in the state. The civil society has its vital role in promoting Armenia-EU cooperation, Karen Nazaryan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia stated at a discussion devoted to the EU-Armenia relations, initiated by Partnership for Open Society Initiative.
Presenting the ongoing discussions between Brussels and Yerevan, the deputy minister described them as intensive. To him, political dialogue, mutual high-level discussions have been intensified over the past years.
“Those meetings, visits are good opportunities to raise issues pertaining to cooperation at the highest level, discuss regional developments, evaluate the assessments and approaches of the sides,” he said.
Touching upon Armenia-EU legal comprehensive document, the deputy minister stressed that several rounds of negotiations on political, trade issued have been conducted which are efficient, while the negotiation process is held at a dynamic pace.
“Our aim is to establish legal basis to regulate Armenia-EU cooperation, which will reflect the content of the previous discussions, as well as the depth and essence of the current discussions,” he noted, expressing hope for a successful completion of the process in the feasible future.
To Karen Nazaryan, Armenia values EU’s balanced approach over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement as well as its commitment to create favorable conditions for the comprehensive settlement of the issues.
Armenia’s deputy FM highlighted that Armenia appreciates the continuous support and assistance by the EU over the years, which had significant input in the implementation of the reforms, enhancement of institutional capabilities of Armenia.
