Police deputy chief speaks about concessions
At this point there are 5 hostages in the police HQ occupied by “The Daredevils of Sassoun” group, Deputy Chief of Armenian Police, Hunan Poghosyan told reporters.
“As a result of negotiations, two hostages, a policeman and a civilian have been released. Appropriate operational and preventive measures are taken by the law-enforcement units,” Mr. Poghosyan noted.
According to the official, nothing has changed in terms of demands imposed by both “The Daredevils of Sassoun” group and the law-enforcement representatives. “We demand them to free the hostages, stop destabilizing the situation and surrender to authorities”.
The Deputy Chief of the Police noted that the negotiations are still underway.
Concerning the steps the police would take if no concessions are made, the official said that they will undertake all the measures permitted by the law.
According to him, concessions should be made by both sides. “We’re ready to respond to their adequate steps”.
Hunan Poghosyan said that the Chief of the Police “manages the work” of the policemen, and another officer is negotiating with the armed group.
