RA Chamber of Advocates calls on the Police to ensure citizens right to receiving legal assistance
The chairman of the Armenian Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan has released a statement, calling on the Police to ensure the citizens to exercise their rights to receive legal assistance.
“Considering the reported cases of hindrance to the work of the lawyers wishing to provide legal assistance to detained citizens, RA Chamber of Advocates calls on the Police:
1. to ensure that RA citizens may exercise their rights to receive legal assistance, as envisaged by Article 64 of the RA Constitution,
2. do not obstruct the profession obligations of the lawyers,” reads the statement.
In cases of obstruction to the work of a lawyer by Police officers, the Chamber recommends to contact rapid response commission at Chamber of Advocates (Lawyer G. Mkrtchyan, mobile number: 077 00-77-92), or the commission established by the memorandum of understanding between the RA Chamber of Advocates and RA Police (Lawyer N. Harutyunyan, mobile number: 091 43-42-10)
