US Congressman Jim Costa hopes the Congress will recognize the Armenian Genocide
“The United States of America is an important partner to Armenia and occupies a crucial place in the economic and political life of Armenia,” US Congressman Jim Costa, who is on a visit to Armenia, said at the meeting with the Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Galust Sahakyan.
As press service of the National Assembly reports, Galust Sahaykyan, reflecting on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, highlighted the US consistent efforts as a US co-chairing state, aimed at the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and establishment of peace and stability in the region.
Jim Costa touched upon the process of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide,
noting: “As a US congressman dealing with the Armenian issues, should take up measures and exert efforts in order to recognize the Armenian Genocide and prevent such crimes in the future.”
The guest next expressed hope the US Congress will recognize the Armenian Genocide in the future.
Reflecting on the regional issues, Jim Costa expressed hope the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will be settled through diplomacy, stressing the importance of involving Artsakh into the negotiation process.
