Violence against journalists unacceptable, Ombudsman of Armenia says
The Ombudsman’s office has issued a statement concerning the events at Khorenatsi Str.
“During the clashes at Khorenatsi Str., several journalists have been injured overnight.
This is strongly condemnable not just as a manifestation of violence, but also as an extremely negative phenomenon in terms of hindering mass media activities.
I remind you that hindering the implementation of professional responsibilities of journalists is a criminally punishable offense, despite the fact whether the perpetrator is a representative of state agency or a civilian at a rally. In this context, all our material resources will be sent to relevant law enforcement agencies.
I ask all those people who possess any footage or information on violence against journalists to send that information to us in order for the activities carried out in the domain of the Ombudsman’s jurisdiction to bear priority nature,” reads the statement.
