Members of the armed group rejected reports about their surrender
“Daredevils of Sasuon”, who have seized the patrol police regiment in Yerevan’s Erebouni district, rejected the reports about their surrender to the authorities, member of the armed group Varuzhan Avetisyan told reporters.
“We are not going to lay down the arms,” Avetisyan said, voicing their previous demands to the authorities.
To remind, dozens of reporters were allowed to enter the seized police regiment as part of an agreement between the armed group members and Armenia’s National Security Service. It was decided that all of the remaining four hostages, senior police officers among them, would be set free provided that a media point is established.
Varuzhan Avetisyan next reflected on the parliamentarian Nikol Pashinyan, who had earlier announced his readiness to lead the demonstrations calling on the change of power.
“I urge all to leave any attempt to make use from the process to the benefit of own personal and political gains and set a up a collegial body without any party affiliation to lead the people’s freedom struggle,” Avetisyan noted.
