Yerevan standoff: NSS call to those at Erebuni Police HQ
«Today a call with the following content was made available to those in the [Erebuni] police station», - Ashot Aharonyan, the Head of the Public Relations and Information Department of the RA Police, wrote on his Facebook page, publishing the photo caption of a one-page call made on behalf of the National Security Service.
In the leaflet the National Security Service notified the members of the armed group still in the police station in Erebuni district of Yerevan since July 17 of their criminal acts, including hostage taking, seizing buildings, etc, with references to the articles in the Criminal Code.
The call reads that 15 years of imprisonment is envisaged in the Crminal Code for offences described, however also mentioning that according to national legislation persons laying down arms and surrendering without deliberate criminal offences may not be held criminally responsible for the acts in question.
“All members of the armed group are once again urged to act reasonably and duly considering the circumstances mentioned above to lay down arms voluntarily and surrender to the authorities. You still have time for that”, - the leaflet suggested, adding the course of action for those who may consider surrendering.
