Few more members of the armed group surrender in Erebuni standoff: Police spokesperson
“Gagik Yeghiazaryan and Aram Hakobyan among the members of armed group in seized police station surrendered [to police]”, - writes Ashot Aharonyan, the Head of the Public Relations and Information Department of the RA Police, on his Facebook page moments ago. Aharonyan informed about a shootout in the area of the seized police station, which resulted in armed group members Pavel Manukyan, his son and one police officer wounded, and “immediately being transferred to hospital”. “The shootout has been halted and negotiations underway to bring the process of surrender to end”, - Aharonyan’s statement concludes.
In early hours of July 27 Aharonian also reported of the beginning of “indiscriminate fire” in the area of seized police station. “From within the territory of the seized police station indiscriminate shootings are being made in several directions at the moment, putting the lives of law enforcement officers, as well as inhabitants of the surrounding areas in danger”, - wrote Aharonyan earlier.
In the morning of July 26 the police disseminated a footage of the armed clash between the members of the armed group and police officers outside the seized station, where few members of the group allegedly attempted breaching the security zone.
Later on two members of the group, wounded during the attempt, were transferred to hospital for immediate treatment in emergency care, based on mutual agreement between the armed group and the law enforcement bodies in the area.
