Ministry of Healthcare deplores gunmen’s taking hostage of the doctors, names ‘internationally unacceptable act’
Press Speaker for the Ministry of Healthcare Anahit Haltayan has issues a statement condemning the report of taking doctors as hostages by the gunmen.
The statement entitled “The medical community condemn” reads that doctors Norayr Tevanyan and Salvador Khechoyan, as well as paramedic Davit Tonoyan, nurse Malina Margaryan, who entered the patrol police regiment for providing medical aid, were taken hostage by the members of the armed group.
“Raising a hand against specialists realizing their humanitarian mission is an internationally condemnable and unacceptable phenomenon,” says the statement.
According to the source, the whole medical community of Armenia has received the report with great anger and harshly condemns this immoral step, while calling for an immediate release of the hostages without any preconditions.
The statement also noted that the gunmen’s move came notwithstanding the fact the doctors had been providing necessary medical aid to the members of the armed group thus far.
