“Ithaca” based on W. Saroyan’s “The Human Comedy” gets its first trailer
The first trailer of “Ithaca” based on William Saroyan’s “The Human Comedy” has been released. The film is directed by Meg Ryan. She appears in the movie next to Tom Hanks, who’s also the producer of the film.
Hamish Linklater and Sam Shepard star in the film too.
Saroyan’s novel was published in 1943. It is set in Ithaca, an imaginary city in the U.S. state of California during the Second World War.
In 1943, MGW shot a movie with the same name. It was directed by Clarence Brown and adapted by Howard Estabrook, starring Mickey Rooney and Frank Morgan. The movie won the Academy Award for Best Story and was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Mickey Rooney), Best Cinematography, Black-and-White, Best Director and Best Picture.
