National Statistical Service: Armenia’s de jure population dropped by 0,3% in the first semester of 2016
The number of de jure population of the Republic of Armenia comprised 2 995.1 thousand persons, as of the first semester of 2016 (January-June), recording a drop by 0,3% compared to the same period of the previous year, Karine Kuyumjyan, Head of Census and Demography Division of the National Statistical Service told reporters at the press conference.
“As of January 1, the decrease in the number of population has been 3500. The estimated decrease of the resident population due to emigration within the mentioned period constituted around 7600 person with the crude rate of natural increase comprising 4100 persons,” noted Kuyumjyan.
For the first semester of the year 2016 the proportionality of the birth and death rates has comprised 128, 9%.
